Father sky studios
As far back as I can remember, I've been up to my elbows in one kind of artistic exploration or another. While much of my energy during the last three decades has been devoted to developing my professional skills and growing my business, the need to indulge this part of my life has never quite let up. During this time were the old standbys like knitting, needle arts, paper crafts, which have been a part of my life since childhood, with more recent explorations with spinning, weaving, stained glass, lampwork, polymer clay, silver clay, and various types of bead work, all of which I have found profoundly gratifying.
My studio work seems to nurture the creative urges that aren’t particularly satisfied in my writing, photography, or say, Web site design and maintenance. While much of the work I do professionally is genuinely creative, it’s not quite the same as having my hands on something beside my computer.
I have been wanting a studio since I was a kid, and when we bought our current place in 1995, there was finally a space for me to realize this dream. Of course, I still struggle to break free of the near-constant pull of book deadlines and work-related projects, to actually find time to work on some non-work-related endeavor or another.
Nonetheless, when I’m not engaged in my professional life, I seek some balance and sanity here. And for a number of reasons, I've decided to share this part of my life. Yeah, I get orders and requests to see samples, but reviving these pages (which haven’t been a part of my site since 2003) serves as a reminder, for me and for anyone who stumbles upon these pages, of just how important it is to feed my soul and recharge my batteries, and perhaps inspire others to do the same.
NOTE: Father Sky Studios is officially a part of Instructional Support Services, Inc. which was more a matter of paperwork than conceptual logic. If you call the number (505-323-9044 or 1-800-688-1960), you'll reach us or you’ll get the voice mail for Instructional Support Services. Father Sky Studios is an in-home venture. I work with prospective clients by appointment, and now via the Internet. Please call contact me through my Web site.
A Bit of Balance and Sanity in my life
